"Engineering meets Art"

Art and engineering - are they opposites, or can they interact
creatively to open up new opportunities?
That's the theme of the next Distance Lab talk, taking place at Horizon Scotland at lunchtime on
Friday 9th February.
You are warmly invited to come to hear Laura Nichols of the MIT Media Lab. The title of the
talk is "Engineering meets Art", and she will show how engineering
concepts can be taught using techniques from art.
Laura is a graduate in mechanical engineering, now enrolled in the
Masters programme at the MIT Media Lab in the Future of Learning research
group. She makes kinetic sculptures and has been working with
several school groups in the area, developing ideas in using art to
teach engineering.
Talk starts at 12.30 pm and will be followed by refreshments and
sandwiches. Admission is free.
