Below is a list of awards and honours received by Distance Lab
and its staff.
Distance Lab's Chief Executive and Research Director, Stefan Agamanolis, won the audience award for "Most Inspirational Speaker" at eComm Europe 2009, the first European version of the world's leading-edge telecom, mobile and Internet communications event.
Distance Lab's first spin-off company, Lost Values, founded by Elena Corchero, received the "Best Use of Materials" award at 100% Design London for its new line of reflective accessories that combine safety with fashion.
Lost Values was awarded a £10,000 grant from Starter for 6, an enterprise training programme led by NESTA that supports up-and-coming creative entrepreneurs across Scotland. Research Fellow Hilary Grant was also a finalist for an award.
Florian 'Floyd' Mueller, former Distance Lab Research Fellow and current Project Advisor, was awarded a prestigious 2009 Fulbright Postgraduate Scholarship in Technology and Communications.
Mutsugoto won a £5000 Alt-w Production Award to support further development leading to several exhibition engagements in 2009.
Distance Lab researcher Elena Corchero received a judges' special commendation in the British Council's UK Young Fashion Entrepreneur Awards 2009.
Remote Impact was among 11 new titles shortlisted for the European Innovative Games Award 2008.
Elena Corchero was awarded the Premi professional Tècnic in the Enjoia't 07 Contemporary Jewellery Competition in Barcelona for the outstanding use of technology and craft in her Solar Vintage pieces.
Solar Vintage was shortlisted for the 2007 Scottish Eco-Prize for Creativity in the Emerging Talent category.
Jogging over a Distance received a special mention at the 1st international NOKIA Ubimedia MindTrek Awards in 2007.
